Science Commons, SPARC, the Center for the Study of the Public Domain, and the Institut d'Estudis Catalans are organizing a satellite event on the policies and technologies necessary to make good on the promise of scientific research in the networked era.
On the 16th and 17th of July the event will seek to lay out the principles of Open Science. Participating in this important discussion are representatives from large-scale computing efforts in Europe, leading Open Access advocates, representatives from the European Commission and the European Science Foundation, Science Commons, Creative Commons, SPARC and the Center for the Study of the Public Domain, among others.
We will be encouraging networking - both technological and social - and sharing knowledge and ideas about "best practices." Our goal is to jump start discussion of the policy agenda for open science and e-science, by laying out the basic tenets of an Open Science system.
